Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) - Shrink / Multi-Packing / Bundling

Shrink bundling, or multi-packing, is the technique of making one bundle, or “pack,” out of multiple items or products. A good example of the use of LDPE shrink film/ plastic is wrapping bottles into six packs. Some people refer to LDPE shrink film as six pack wrapping film.

LDPE plastic is a strong, flexible plastic that can be produced in different microns / thickness and the strength properties make it vital to the protection and distribution of packaged goods.

LDPE shrink film has an exceptionally good shrink ability around a product. LDPE shrinkage was tested to be between 40% – 60% in the machine direction, or length of the film, and 5% – 15% in the transverse direction, or width of film. Shrinkage occurs typically through the form of heat.

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) - Products

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) can be supplied as tubing, Lay-flat, Center folded or as plastic bags. The most popular application of low-density polyethylene is plastic bags, tubing and Shrink rolls.

Packaging – Thanks to its low cost and good flexibility, LDPE is widely used in the packaging industry as bin liners, trash or refuse bags, films for food packaging (frozen, dry goods, etc.), laminations plastic wraps, butcher bags, Ice bags, firewood bags and other plastic bags.

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) - Bags

LDPE is a recycling code 4 and is used to make bags with moderate stretch and strength properties. LDPE bags tend to display a high degree of clarity and are commonly used in consumer packaging as bread bags or thick bags for Ice Bags, Ziplock Bags, and all other protective packaging plastics.

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) – Tubing Rolls

Poly Tubing is a continuous length of plastic tubing, rolled flat onto a roll.  The tubing can be used in the beverage and food processing industries.

Advantages of LDPE Tubing: - cost effective, good chemical resistance, high impact strength at low temperatures, heat sealable. Several customers use LDPE tubing for ice cubes and similar uses.
